Composed on my own time, these 9 serenades each focus on a different idea such as imitative counterpoint, texture, or new harmonies.
I wrote this chamber piece as one of my first projects at UWM. I am the cellist in this live recording.
The original music is by System of a Down, and the arrangement for cello quintet is by me. This piece was played at my good friend's senior cello recital. On the recording, I'm the cellist making all of the percussive sounds.
Composed during the Spring 2007 semester, this piece actually borrows harmonic motives from my String Serenade in C minor.
I wrote this 4 movement string quartet to focus on ostinato and otherwise persistent material.
This is the andante movement of a 5 movement piece for solo piano The rest of the movements were not performed due mostly to length on an already lengthy concert. This performance is by Aerim Jang. There are four other written movements which have yet to be recorded.
By putting the rarely used sostenuto pedal to good work, I created this piece for solo piano which laces sustained melodies over busy ostinato. The sostenuto also creates the effect of continually resonating strings above the ostinato.
Using the first 16 measures of my Serenade in A-flat major as source MIDI and audio material, this piece is a set of developing variations.
Here is an experiment with sampling. Using only two original sound samples I created drumbeats and a melody.
The sounds featured in this piece all actually started as body percussion. I applied a lot of resonance, filtering, and reverb to stretch them out and create what you hear.
